September is shaping up as an arty month for students from Tauhara College.
On Tuesday, September 2 the arts faculty presents this year’s Arts Showcase at the Great Lake Centre from 6pm-8pm.
The evening celebrates the work of the college’s Dance, Kapa Haka, Music, Art, and Photography departments – a chance for friends and family “to experience the diverse talents of our students through powerful performances and stunning visual displays,” says the school.
Students Mikayla Edwards and Martin Guila promoted the evening recently on MoreFM with a short section of one of their Smokefree Rockquest song entries.
The school is also running a band night for senior music students who have formed bands in class, on Thursday, September 11, at 5.30pm in the school hall.
This event, aimed at developing their musicianship skills and demonstrating teamwork as a band, forms part of their senior group performance assessment.
Music teacher Michaela Pointon said it was going to be a great night.
“I’m sure the students would love to see you there.”
