The final midday concert for 2025 will reprise some of the Prohibition Playhouse tunes in a command performance of the show put on by the Great Lake Big band and Centre Stage in late August.
As well as other material, the Friday, December 12 concert will be an opportunity to hear a selection of the pieces as performed by singers like Chase Tapuke, Sophie Mae and GLBB regular Jo Paull, said the band’s music director Rowan Bolley.
For some locals it might even be their first chance to get a taste of the sold out 1920s retrospective.
The local jazz band taking the December concert has become something of a tradition over the last few years.
Midday concert series organiser, Tracey Liddington said 2025 had been a varied year for the series, now into its third decade at least.
“I’m pleased with it,” said Liddington. “But there are still a few gaps for next year. I’d love to hear from people with performance ideas or know of someone who could be good. That would be useful.”
The series presents 10 monthly concerts from March to December.
The December 12 concert runs from 12-1pm at St Andrew’s Church, 91 Tītīraupenga Street, Taupō, $10 entry, cash only.
