Kia ora koutou,

Creative Taupō are heading a Digital Detox Day across the rohe.

We are working alongside the Taupō District Council, Bike Taupō, Greening Taupō, Waiora House and Sport Waikato to create activities that encourage people being off devices for up to 24 hours in the first weekend of the Sept/Oct School holidays (September 26-27).

This will be a wonderful opportunity for groups to get involved in promoting themselves, showing potential new members what they have to offer, collaborating with local businesses (cafés and venues) to create a memorable experience for our community (hāpori).

Creative Taupō would like Expressions of Interest from groups who may be interested in creating an event to list.

Events could last for as little as half an hour and up to four hours!  The choice is yours.

Digital Detox Day is about getting individuals connected, families enjoying time together, meeting new people, conversation, learning, laughing and enjoying the great place that we call home.

We envisage creating a timetable/schedule with events and activities happening concurrently, so people can choose what they would like to do. This will be out well in advance of the day, with physical copies available from participating businesses and the Taupō i-Site (or Visitor Centre) as well as locations in Tūrangi and Mangakino.

Groups or individuals who would like to be involved by creating an activity or helping with one should contact [email protected] before Saturday, August 15.

More information will then follow.
